Your child will need a backpack or bag, a refillable water bottle, a change of clothes, a wide-brim sun hat and their favourite toy, which can help them settle in. For kindergarten your child will need morning tea and lunch (dependent on the length of the program day). Developed by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), the NQS provides a benchmark for childcare services, from long day care and family day care to preschools, kindergartens, and outside school hours care. Under the NQS, childcare services are assessed and rated for the quality of education and care they provide. These ratings give parents a clear understanding of how well a service meets national standards, helping them make the best choice for their child’s needs.
With a strong focus on safety, quality, and school readiness, our experienced educators deliver the exclusive Lifelong Learning Curriculum - Australia’s most advanced approach to early childhood education. Children enjoy healthy meals prepared onsite, engaging learning environments, and personalised care tailored to their individual needs. A top rated centre must have 5 star average reviews rating, as well as 'Exceeding' or 'Excellent' NQS rating. The National Quality Standards are a set of national benchmarks for early childhood education and care services. It includes seven quality areas like "Children's health and safety" and "Educational program and practice".

We've answered the most common ones, from meals and opening hours to fees, tours and what to bring on your first day. Educators guide children as they explore new ideas, practice independence and build language, social and self-help skills through fun, hands-on experiencs every day. Our children have been attending St Helena Early Learning for over 3 years and it is such a wonderful service. All the Educators are kind and caring individuals and my children love going each time.

We’re proud to partner with families across Melbourne to give every child the best possible start in life, and to offer meaningful career opportunities for early childhood professionals. The children engage in a variety of learning using a large range of resources from wooden blocks to loose parts. Our team plans more opportunities for play, exploration, creativity and fun with friends, before coming together for afternoon tea, where the team supports their growing independence with opportunities to practice serving themselves.
From 2026, the 3 Day Guarantee will ensure eligible families can access at least three days of subsidised care each week, helping parents balance work and family while children thrive in a high-quality learning environment.
